From the moment we set foot in the bar for pre dinner drinks we knew that we’re in for a treat. The bartender had a great knowledge of drinks and cocktails, and he made us the best French Martinis ever. Straight after we went for dinner and was fantastic! The Indian waiter, I think Lorezo was his name, had exceptional service skills and wine knowledge when he described the tasting menu paired with beautiful wines. I do recommend the place for a special occasion, and you should try their tasting menus.
Saffrons restaurant is one of the best restaurant we’ve eaten.Extremely delicious food with a touch of indian cuisine and a very good selection of wines. Staff is exceptional and very knowledgeable. The food and the wines were explained to us in an unique way. A memorable experience which exceeded our expectations!!!
We went for the set menu – 3 courses with a choice of 4 dishes per course. All were amazing. A Michelin style experience for £30 a head. There were also pre-dinner snacks and coffee to finish. The drinks were reasonable and the staff exceptional. My wife is Coeliac and every care was taken to ensure she enjoyed everything available,
What an amazing night! Most of our party opted for the Taster menu where each course was accompanied with either an appropriate wine or beer. The beautifully presented food was delicious. The service was excellent and our waitress and waiter for the evening gave us detailed descriptions of the food and the named beers and wines that complimented each course. The restaurant has a modern sophisticated decor which added to an overall excellent dining experience. If you want to try fine dining Indian style, then Saffrones is most certainly worth a visit.
We ate the taster menu with the wine to accompany each course. We have eaten here before and the standard is exceptionally high. My wife is gluten free and they adapted any parts of the dishes necessary. But with skill and care that made her meal every bit as good as mine. These changes are not simple but complex in the make up so as to continue the theme of fusion food that demonstrates the care of the kitchen. The food service team is highly skilled not just in their practical abilities but their knowledge of each dish and the accompanying wines. You truly feel special. I told the restaurant manager that we had eaten in a restaurant in Madrid that had 2 Michelin starts that was superb but that in our opinion Saffrons food, style, care and service was better. The staff look and sounds very genuine in the way they go about their job. Well done everyone. We look forward to our next visit.
Jersey has Tennerfest and Gourmetfest from October 1 to November 11, when many of the island’s restaurants offer special table d’hote menus at very reasonable prices. Despite the heavy competition, we were staying at the fabulous Hotel de France and were so glad we dined ‘in’ a couple of times. The food was faultless – creative, fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly. We have travelled around the world and find that many hotel restaurants rely on their in-house guests. But Saffrons can hold its own against any outside competitors and is well worth the experience.
A number of friends and work colleagues waxed lyrical about the Saffrons experience, so we included this as our evening meal as part of a Spa weekend. We had the ‘Tasting menu’ which was a perfect way to sample the great cooking and some memorable wines. We were there for a ‘special’ birthday and the restaurant perfectly fitted the occasion.
We had a fabulous dinner at the Saffron restaurant with the food being perfect. Having eaten in Benares restaurant in London beforehand I rated Saffron to be better. The service and attention to detail made the dining experience just wonderful.
We were staying in the hotel and by chance booked this wonderful restaurant for the Saturday night which turned out to be essential. We chose the tasting menu with classic wines and this was just amazing. Each dish was expertly prepared and described by the waiters as were the accompanying wines. We found that there was no need to have the premium wine menu as the classic menu, as far as we were concerned, had some more interesting wines. Although there were many courses we did not feel uncomfortable which is sometimes the case with so much food involved. At the end of the evening, the chef visited every table to discuss the meal and ask if there could be any improvements; we could think of none. By far the best meal of our holiday and worth every penny.
Had a great evening meal at Saffrons. Wonderful flavours. Interesting and inspired presentation on the plate. Bright and relaxed room with attentive and polite staff. An enjoyable twist on everyday Indian cuisine.
Had dinner here on 21st April and it was wonderful. Do not expect this to be your average Indian cuisine – far from it. They may serve rice and naan breads but the choice of very imaginative and unusual dishes with beautiful presentation is not to be missed. We even had dessert, which is not something we go for, but their sharing platter was delicious. Not the cheapest place to eat in St Helier but definitely worth every penny.
Managed to ‘squeeze’ a reservation given I was a resident. Restaurant fully booked which is a regular occurrence and given this Saffron’s is a favourite with locals is a good indication this restaurant consistently delivers! Exceptionally attentive staff who explain each dish. Food was delivered at just right amount of timing between courses. Excellent all round!
